A first

Alright, what is the purpose of blogging? It is helpful to keep my family and friends up to date on the comings and goings, as well as to reflect on life. I like the idea of dispersing information in a quick and easy way. I have been following a few friends blogs, and I really love to be updated on their lives as frequently as I would like, even when they live far away and are super busy people.

This week, I registered for the first semester of classes for the graduate program at San Jose State. I will be taking prerequisites like Intro to Hearing Science, Phonetics, Language and Speech Development, and Audiology. I will also be taking advanced Spanish. Benji is in the process of being hired as a geometry teacher at a high school a few miles from SJSU. He is very excited to move up to high school. I know that he will be happy and successful in his new job. We will go scope out apartments next weekend. Our friend Kathyrn is going to send us a special song to sing as we drive around the neighborhood we would like to live in with our intentions firmly set for our ideal living situation.

We attended Amanda Topp and Joe Mello's wedding this weekend. Despite the crazy Central Californian heat wave, we had an awesome time and got to reconnect with friends from CSUMB. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony filled with lots of meaningful traditions. Our favorite was a handmade box from their family that they put a bottle of wine and a letter to each other (about what they love about their partner and why they want to get married). If there is ever a time when they feel like they want to quit the marriage, then they can open the box, drink the bottle of wine, and they go to separate rooms to read the letter from their spouse, contemplate the relationship, and remind themselves why they got married. And, if they never have to open it for that reason, then they will do it on their 25th wedding anniversary. Isn't that a beautiful tradition?

In three weeks we will head to Austin, TX to visit our niece, Maya Drake Tackett for the first time. We are so excited to be Tia Amy and Tio Benji.
