Summer is over...

Don't be confused, but I am going to skip around a bit as I am adding some photos from the beginning of summer. Here is a photo of our first anniversary weekend. It wasn't actually on our anniversary, but this is a few weeks later, when we celebrated it.We went to Big Sur and checked out the fire damage, and then went for a hike. Luckily, our wedding site hadn't been damaged!

Last night I joined Benji in his classroom and checked out his progress. Desks were straight. Bulletin boards were filled. Books were stacked. Seating charts were planned. Shoulders were relaxed. He is ready. I wonder if he was able to remove the permanent marker writing that I accidentally got on the floor when I marked through the butcher paper when I was writing out the class rules? Don't you love when you try to help and you only make it worse?

August 1 was my last day at my former job and I had forgotten that I took these photos in late July. The beautiful yellow flower is a Dahlia. I miss the kids and the garden, which is now probably full of zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, corn and cucumbers.

Of course, here are some photos of Maya. Seeing her for the very first time, here she is with Great Grandma Loretta.

This past weekend we celebrated the life of Dominic Ambriz, whose 31 month battle with brain cancer ended August 16, 2008. He will truly live on through the people he knew and whom he infused with the Bring It! lifestyle. I have started a training program in honor of Dom and I swear he was running alongside me on my last run. I am sad. This seems to be a good way for me to channel my sorrow and grief. Our love goes out to Dom's family.
