Tales from SJSU Child Development Center

February 23, 2011

Written by her teacher, Anna

Today I took the play dough invitation to the dramatic play area in the Sweet Pea Room. Lola came over to see what we were doing; she cruised around the table and when she saw an empty seat she quickly sat down. She manipulated the play dough with her hands and soon got up to explore other parts of the kitchen area. After a few minutes she returned with a cutting board and immediately placed some play dough on the board. Then she grabbed a spatula, turned it sideways, and slid it back and forth like a knife. She did not hold the dough while she cutting the play dough, just did the sliding motion back and forth through the play dough. I believe Lola was remembering a time that she witnessed someone cutting food.

  1. Evidence that Little Loretta that I Love watches her mommy and daddy cook. She is destined to be a great learner.
