Benji and Lola both celebrated their birthdays yesterday. They got so many wishes from friends and family. They are a loved pair those two.
First, we spent the early morning getting burritos from our favorite spot, Cafe Rosalina's. Then we headed down to the YMCA and Benji played basketball for a couple of hours as his birthday treat to himself. Lola and I crashed a Zumba class, which was sooooo much fun. There were 40 or so people of all ages and abilities getting their groove on to music from Latin America, India and Africa. Next, instead of walking home, we rode the bus back from the Y. Loretta told a group of folks on their way to church about her birthday, and how she is, "two in May".
After a birthday nap for Benj and Lola, we went to Campo di Bocce, which consists of bocce ball, beer and pizza! Benji's friend Kevin goes there every year for his birthday, which happens to be May 15th as well. So for the last two years we have joined in on the fun and partied together. Kevin and his wife Cydney are wonderful, and they have two little girls. The kids had so much fun running back and forth and playing with the balloons! Dave, Toni and Baby Stein helped us celebrate too. If you haven't played Bocce before, it is great fun!
Here are pics of Lola in the Laker "dress" as she calls it. I hope to take a pic on her birthday in this jersey every year until she is...until she asks me to stop.
What a Happy Birthday for Benji and Lola - especially with the great news that Mommy passed her comps. What great celebrations for all!!
